Looking Glass Art Show

Exhibit run: December 5, 2019—January 30, 2020   The public is invited to the opening reception for the Looking Glass Collective’s winter art show at the Smiley Café Gallery, Thursday, December 5, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM. Meet the artists and see their work in oil, pastel and watercolor. All paintings are for sale with 30% of sales going to Durango’s Local First’s efforts to establish a Creative District in Durango. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. The show continues through January 30, 2020. The Looking Glass Collective consists of twenty artists who meet monthly to critique one another’s work. The collective also creates opportunities for exhibits such as the yearly show at Smiley, exhibits for non-profits like San Juan Citizens Alliance and shows at local businesses. The artists have all been juried into multiple national shows; many have won awards. Looking Glass Collective artists participating in this year’s show are: Linda Bonds, Emma French, Sue Giddings, Sandra Heller, Yvonne Holland, Rosemary Juskevich, Rebecca Koeppen, Betsy Krill, Annette LeMaire, Juanita Nelson, Cheryl Roberts, Pat Smiley, Ann Stringfellow, Dinah Swan and Lorraine Trenholm.
Shop Orientation

Lawrence Broadway, an experienced shop steward will demonstrate the safe use of all of the shop equipment. New members are strongly encouraged to attend, and any member who is learning a new interest area or just wants a refresher training, should also take advantage of this free demonstration. This is also a great place for anyone who wants to become a shop steward to become more familiar with the equipment.
3rd Annual Durango Women's March

Theme: #WomenRising2020 Come celebrate the 100th Anniversary of womens&apos right to vote!   Meet in front of Durango Train Station at 10:30 am, march starts at 11 am. All are welcome at this free, family friendly event. Please bring a positive sign. March up Main Ave (or come cheer us on) to Buckley Park to hear 5 insightful speakers. Free Basic Entomology and Fly Selection Clinic
12:00pm / Duranglers Flies and Supplies
Basic Entomology will cover the 4 major bug groups that are found in our local waterways. How to identify each type of insect and times of year that they hatch as well as the lifecycle of the different types of insects. We will also cover various fly patterns that represent the different life cycles of each type. Stop in and learn all about choosing the right flies to catch trout! No charge for this event.
