Veteran's Memorial Train
7:00am / Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad
Ride on the train that races the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic's Citizens Bicycle Race from Durango to Silverton. Enjoy lunch at the race finish, and be our special guest at a Memorial Day themed Ceremony in Silverton's Memorial Park.   Presented by The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, this day of fun, celebration, and camaraderie is FREE to Active Duty Military, Veterans, and Military-affiliated Gold and Blue Star parents/spouses/family members/friends.   Event Schedule:  1. The train departs precisely at 8am. If you are late, the train will not wait. Your train will be "racing" the IHBC Citizens Bicycle Race to Silverton.  2. Volunteers will meet the train in Silverton and direct you to ground transportation for a short trip to Memorial Park - The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic finish line - where:  3. A box lunch will be served (Meat or Vegetarian option available).  4. A ceremony honoring service will be held.  5. Following the ceremony, return transport by D&SNGRR bus will bring you back to Durango.

Durango Farmers Market

The Durango Farmers Market is a venue for local agriculturalists, ranchers and artisans to meet and share their harvest and talents with the Durango community. At our market you have the opportunity to meet face to face with the producers and learn more about their growing methods. Vendors post their farming practices at their booth and most follow organic growing methods.   Our market also offers hot ready to eat food from local vendors, value added foods such as jams, jellies and sauces and local artisans who make high-quality handcrafted items. All vendors must produce their goods within our five-county radius ensuring fresh produce and locally made goods. We also have live music performances each weekend as well as community information booths for non-profits and groups that promote our market values of local, sustainable and healthy living.
VFW Post 4031 Buddy Poppy Distribution

The Buddy Poppy Program raises many for the VFW National Home and for those handicapped individuals who make the Pappys. The Pappys are a remembrance for those servicemen who lost their lives in World War 1.
VFW Post Greenmount Flag Placement

Every year VFW Post 4031 places flags on the graves of veterans. This is tribute to their service to the United States. Volunteers are welcome to come and assist placing flags on the graves. The event starts at 9:00 AM. Meet at the American Legion Monument for a briefing. Bring a large Phillips Screwdriver to bore holes to place the flags.
Cascade Canyon Express begins the season!

If you are looking for an unforgettable train adventure with incredible geological features and fantastic scenery that is downright jaw-dropping, look no further than these steam train excursions departing from the Durango Depot and traveling deep into the wilderness inaccessible by any roads. These excursions are perfect for families with children or those on a tight schedule.
Community Art Market

All artists are invited to set up a table, booth or tent at no charge. Space is on first come basis. There are free crafts for kids. This event happens on the last Sat of every month through the summer. Everyone is welcome. Market goes from 10 - 2:30. Set up begins at 8:30am.
Local Plants for Gut Health
10:00am / The Wild Cooperative
Workshop at the beautiful Wild Cooperative.    Join us for a day long immersion into wild plant medicine and food for the gut. Such plants can be found everywhere from a vacant, urban lot to a nearby field to a shady mountain forest.    This plant-packed day includes:  • An on-site medicinal plant walk featuring identification and medicinal properties of local wild plants, with a focus on they many ways they promote gut health.   • Hands on time learning 3 different medicinal preparations featuring the local plants we discuss. You'll take home what you make.   • A primer on wild food fermentation for gut health.   Overnight camping is available on-site for the Friday night before for a $10 donation per tent (paid on site). There is also National Forest primitive camping available 1st come 1st served a couple miles down the road.
Bachata Workshop With Moises and Nik

Bachata dance is a playful Latin dance that is typically danced at Salsa and Merengue dance clubs and originates from the Dominican Republic. This style is danced with soft hip motions, turns and side-to-side footwork. The music of Bachata is very recognizable for its predominant use of the electric guitar combined with Caribbean and Latin musical influences.   This Bachata workshop will be held on May 28th from 12pm to 3pm at the Wild Horse Saloon 601 E 2nd Ave #A, Durango, CO 81301. Moises is returning again and will be teaching more fun Bachata moves assisted by Nikolle.   Along with the workshop there will be opportunities for private lessons with Moises after the workshop. Learn how to create your own personalized cards by block printing by hand You will learn how to carve your own design into a soft block that will be used to create your own prints Personalizing your own cards is a fun and unique way to express your own character for all kinds of events or ideas: holidays, thank you cards, Birthdays, or anything you can think of! Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers

Old West Cowboy Music Show and Chuckwagon Supper.  Durango's favorite family entertainment since 1969.  Bar D Wranglers perform in concert after supper with music and songs of old west cowboys, comedy, and lively instrumentals. The show is fun for the whole family.   Activities, shops, and ticketing open at 4:30. Supper is at 6:30. Open Memorial Day Weekend through September - Rain or Shine Reservations are required.
