Ride the Polar Express for The Powerhouse

The Powerhouse Science Center in Durango has tickets for sale to ride The Polar Express on Thursday, November 14, 2019. The train departs at 5:15 p.m. Coach, Deluxe Coach and First-Class tickets are available. Prices are $25, $30 and $40. An Evening in the Himalayas

Bhotia Foundation Fundraiser - An Evening in the Himalayas On Thursday, November 14, 2019, 5:30-8:00pm, the non-profit Bhotia Foundation will hold a fundraiser at the Durango Arts Center to benefit charitable projects in Nepal. Attendees will experience an immersion in the food and culture of Nepal. There will be food by the Himalayan Kitchen, a singing bowl presentation, stories and movie shorts of the 2019 service trip to Nepal, and Nepali music and dance. Information about future service treks to Nepal and other ways people can contribute will also be discussed. Tickets are $50 prior to the event and may be purchased at Himalayan Kitchen, Good Karma, Dreams of Tibet, and Dancing Willow Herbs, or $65 at the door. This is a family friendly event, children 12 and under are free. All proceeds will go to the Bhotia Foundation. For more information go to www.bhotiafoundation.org
Adaptive Sports Association Winter Volunteer Orientation

Adaptive Sports Association (ASA) kicks off the winter season with volunteer training! ASA is a non-profit sports and recreation outfitter for people with disabilities. Volunteer training is free and a great way for people interested in the outdoors to get involved and connect with their community. Volunteers are needed daily to teach ski and snowboard lessons. No experience is necessary, but volunteers must be at least intermediate skiers or snowboarders. Volunteers also earn discounted skiing at Purgatory and college credit through arranged internships. Orientations are November 13th and 14th (choose 1) at the Durango Rec Center. Returning volunteers meet 6-7 PM. New volunteers meet 7-8 PM.
