Cascade Canyon Winter Train

This unforgettable roundtrip excursion departs from Durango and journeys to Cascade Canyon offering magnificent views of the Animas River and the snowclad peaks of the Rocky Mountains of southwest Colorado. Spanning 26 miles each way, this 5.25 hour round trip experience is offered on select dates from November 19 through May 5. We recommend reserving your trip in advance online so that you have the best chance of securing your preferred seating.    Departing from the Durango Depot, this excursion takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with incredible views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River while relaxing in heated coaches. Cascade Canyon is a destination like no other and is the perfect setting for a fire-side lunch, photo opportunities or a walk along the Animas River during your 60-minute layover. Join us for five days of fun in the sun with Durango's only Youth Leadership Summer Camp, June 12 - June 16, 2023!    We will provide a versatile mix of experiences for students ages 12-16 through thematic equine activities and intentional focus on intrapersonal growth extending from each students' unique Social Style - a powerful behavioral model that will support your child in understanding themselves and others. Tai Chi for Beginners - four class times

Every Mon & Weds 9:30 Yang Style Tues 9:30, Weds 10:30, Thurs 9:00 Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Beginners welcome to these classes!  Tai Chi has been shown to improve over all health, balance, coordination, reduce stress and much more. In these beginner classes we learn Tai Chi principles, and movements that we put together in a short form that can be practiced for minutes a day. Included in classes are Qigong (health exercises) and meditation practices. While this is a moving form, Tai Chi can also be practiced in a chair or wheelchair.  
Certified instructor Denise Lane has been practicing Tai Chi and Qigong for many years. She enjoys sharing her passion for this art with others.

10:00am / Four Corners Gem and Mineral Club
In this beginner's class, hosted by the Four Corners Gem and Mineral Club, you will learn a variety of earring making skills, including sawing, dapping, rolling mill, basic soldering, fold forming, and how to make ear wires. Metal selections include sterling silver, copper and brass. Expect to finish two to three pairs during the class period. The value of your finished products will be about the same as your tuition cost, so you can't go wrong taking this class! From The Ground Up,..  Learn Life Lessons as You Learn Horsemanship.   From horse care on the ground to getting up in a saddle and riding, you will learn to partner with your horse and take those lessons into your everyday life! Each week, you will build on your foundation…setting intentions, making plans, focusing, and communicating with your equine partners. A great way to discover your leadership style and develop and build self-confidence.   Warning: You May Want To Own Your Own Horse After This!   Cost: $420 per person. MUST REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE! MONDAYS IN MAY (no class Memorial Day Weekend. If you loved your first experience, and are yearning for more laughter, more horse time and comradery, we promise you will love LN 2.0 as we head straight in to reconnect with the herd! Georgie and friends will be so excited to see you!   Each month we will have a new and exciting exercise that will have you working with our horses through obstacles and problem-solving exercises that will build on the last, promoting learning, self-discovery and a unique 'girls' night' horse experience you won't forget!   Cost: $85.00 pp, non-refundable, but transferable. Regenerative Lanscaping will save water (and Money!), as well as being healthy for all of us, our pets and our local wildlife.

Mondays will become your favorite day of the week (Yes, you did read that right)! Learn about the historical evolution of pottery and understand the various methods to create shapes and forms. Walk with your pieces through every step of creation. Together, we will focus on two modes of creating functional ware through hand building and an introduction to wheel throwing, to create functional art for everyday use. We will spend time exploring textures, shapes and colors.   Space is limited to accommodate a small student to teacher ratio. Students will rotate through time on the pottery wheels.
