The Durango Fall Blaze is a bicycle tour to raise money for Fort Lewis College Cycling Scholarships. Over the past three years we have raised over $80,000 for scholarships for the cycling team.    This year there are three different events and six courses. We have 2 road rides, 2 mountain bike rides and 2 gravel rides.The gravel and mountain bike courses are new to the Fall Blaze this year. This is a non-competitive event, and fun for all level of riders. The post ride event will have food, beverage, and live music. Register at durangofallblaze.com for event information and course maps. The Durango Farmers Market is a venue for local agriculturalists, ranchers and artisans to meet and share their harvest and talents with the Durango community. At our market you have the opportunity to meet face to face with the producers and learn more about their growing methods. Vendors post their farming practices at their booth and most follow organic growing methods.   Our market also offers hot ready to eat food from local vendors, value added foods such as jams, jellies and sauces and local artisans who make high-quality handcrafted items. All vendors must produce their goods within our five-county radius ensuring fresh produce and locally made goods. We also have live music performances each weekend as well as community information booths for non-profits and groups that promote our market values of local, sustainable and healthy living.

The City of Durango and La Plata County have partnered for many years on annual Household Hazardous Waste collection events. Our most recent event saw over 700 attendees and collected over 85,000 lbs of waste! These events offer the primary opportunity in our region for collecting many HHW materials.   Saturday does not require an appointment and is only for personal/residential and relatively smaller quantities of materials.

Curious about the lost wax process of casting… Here is your chance to explore & practice this creative art. A group of six individuals in a one on one personal instruction for 2 whole days. You will create your own design, carve that design into purple wax, then we encase it into a special type of casting investment. I personally bake it overnight within a kiln. Afterwards, you will melt your provided sterling silver & feel the floor Rumble…. Clean your artwork & Voilà your piece is ready to wear!   All materials provided.   COST: $225.00, with $100.00 down to reserve a seat.   Class handout will be sent via email once payment is received

Adobe Lightroom Classic CC Intensive: Two Day Class offered by Future Light Digital in Durango, CO.>br>  Part 1: The first day covers the Library, Slideshow and Web modules. You will learn how to design a logical file structure, build an efficient backup system, create an easy-to-use naming structure, and use metadata to simplify tracking images from program to program. Integrate image management into your workflow using Adobe Lightroom Classic software and learn how to implement an advanced keyword system for tracking the content of your images.   Leverage the power of virtual Collections to organize your images. We will also cover the Slideshow and Web modules in greater detail, including the use of custom templates for unique and powerful automatic web design. Learn how to set up a web server to post your images online for personal or client review.   Part 2 : The second day covers the Raw conversion and editing tools and Print module. We focus on maximizing the quality of your images in the Develop module, with a detailed explanation of each tool set, including the new selective control with the Adjustment brush. Learn how to set-up batch processing, round-trip editing of images from Lightroom into Adobe Photoshop CC, and working with virtual copies of your original files.   Class meets from 10:00 - 4:00 pm., Fee $245  August 20 & 21, 2022 - Two full days!   Class meets either at the Future Light Digital studio at Elk Park, Durango, or the Durango Community Recreation Center depending on class size.   Bring your own laptop.

Old West Cowboy Music Show and Chuckwagon Supper. Durango's favorite family entertainment since 1969. Bar D Wranglers perform in concert after supper with music and songs of old west cowboys, comedy, and lively instrumentals. The show is fun for the whole family.    Activities, shops, and ticketing open at 4:30. Supper is at 6:30. Open Memorial Day Weekend through September - Rain or Shine ! Reservations are required.
