An on-line and in-person event demonstrating how your own yard, garden, and landscapes can change to adapt to or even to mitigate changing climate conditions. March 1-31 view 8 recorded presentations by leading horticultural experts. Departing from the Durango Depot, this excursion takes you up into the Rocky Mountains with incredible views of the San Juan National Forest as you travel alongside the beautiful Animas River while relaxing in heated coaches. Cascade Canyon is a destination like no other and is the perfect setting for a fire-side lunch, photo opportunities or a walk along the Animas River during your 60-minute layover. Spanning 26 miles each way, this 5.25 hour round trip experience is offered on select dates from November 19 through May 5. We recommend reserving your trip in advance online so that you have the best chance of securing your preferred seating.

The Great Decisions Durango discussion group will meet (11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.) to discuss "Global Famine." Moderator Holly Vaughn will present background materials and a film by the Foreign Policy Association, and lead participants in a discussion of the issues.    The public is invited to attend this free discussion and participants are welcome to bring a sack lunch.

Ready to Cowboy/Cowgirl up? Along with our friends from Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, True Western Roundup, and Durango Wild West Talent, The Belle and the Strater Hotel have brought back Cowboy Tuesdays!   Join us on Tuesdays from Noon - 3pm for drink and food specials and some fantastic entertainment - old west style! Yes that is Mike Leonard in the photo...as he and Bobbie Leonard and Scott Perez will be on The Belle stage for this first event. Fun fact - Mike Leonard started this fun tradition years ago and he was recently honored with a Strater Room Dedication! If you have a song, cowboy poem, or story you'd like to share, just let us know and we will put you up there to perform.

Are you a beginner/intermediate acoustic music player looking to play more? This weekly jam is welcoming to all players, with a focus on slower tempo improvisation solos and chord changes. If you can play the I, IV and V chords in G, D and A then you know enough to play at this jam! A food truck and bar is onsite for dinner and drinks.

Join us to hear from Jim White with Colorado Parks & Wildlife, Clay Kampf from U.S. Forest Service, Ty Churchwell, national TU mining director, and Scott Roberts with Mountain Studies Institute about the state of our rivers. They'll touch on the Animas both in town and at its headwaters, the Pine, the Florida, the San Juan, the Piedra and perhaps others.    Come early to grab food from the menu at Hillcrest Golf Club and socialize and then stay for the presentation and come with questions.
