The 2021 La Plata County Fair is slated to be held August 11-15 at the La Plata County Fair Fairgrounds. The five days of fun will feature entertainment for the whole family including displays, animals, exhibits, the livestock auction, the 4-H Community BBQ, dancing, food and more.
Scenic Round Trip Silverton Train

Embark on an Incredible Journey Through the San Juan Mountains!   For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this steam train plus spend 2 hours in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. There’s no cell service or Wi-Fi through much of the terrain so you’ll be unplugged from the modern world. Soak in the views, listen as the steam whistle echoes through the canyon, hear the vintage locomotive work to pull the train up the grades. If you long to unwind and enjoy Colorado nature at its finest, this is the trip for you.

1st class FREE! A different virtual workout every time, this energizing class consists of aerobic intervals to improve cardiovascular endurance combined with strength training intervals, core and balance work. Common equipment is incorporated, modifications will be shown for those without equipment. Your instructor is Durango personal trainer Lynn Beck. Class is open to all. Camp Creative (Kids Summer Art Camp) Session 3

School is almost out for the summer and Dancing Spirit is excited to be gearing up for Camp Creative!   What: A week long, in-person Art Camp with daily games, activities, arts & crafts and of course, a lunch break to visit with friends.   Cost: $120 per session (If you sign up for all three sessions, total cost will only be $300. Payment due on/before the first class)   Other Information: Each student needs to bring a water bottle and a sack lunch each day. Please be aware that we will be spending time outside each day, so jackets are required and sunscreen is recommended. For information on COVID Safety Requirements, please visit us online.

Fruit Glean Happy Hour

Join the Good Food Collective this and every Thursday from 5:00-7:00 for our FREE Community Fruit Glean Happy Hour to harvest excess fruit from Durango's backyard trees.    To quench our thirst, a guest mixologist will be serving up feral fruit mocktails made from local, fresh fruit. Gleaners are invited to bring boxes and bags to take home as much fruit as they want. Remaining fruit is donated to regional food assistance programs.   This family friendly event helps get fresh produce to our region's food insecure populations, protects our bear populations and reduces waste!    Spots are limited, so please RSVP on our website - https://www.goodfoodcollective.org    Can't make it? Not a problem, our website also features a database of fruit tree owners in search of harvesters, harvest equipment rentals, and DIY harvest educational materials!
