We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. Historian John Steinle, author of the new book "Colorado and the Silver Crash", will speak on the 1893 Silver Panic that left its mark on the history of La Plata County. This event will be held outdoors at 1pm on the Animas Museum grounds at 3065 West 2nd Ave. A limited number of books available for purchase.

Open Nightly Memorial Day Weekend thru late September , The Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers in Durango, Colorado offers family entertainment with a stage show and barbecue or steak supper. After supper, The Bar D Wranglers perform their famous old west music stage show with cowboy songs, comedy, and lively instruments. The Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers is a major attraction in Durango, Colorado and a "must do"activity for family entertainment. The restaurant, stage show, shops, train, and activities are set in an old west cowboy village under the red cliffs North of Durango, Colorado.
