Scenic Round Trip Silverton Train

Embark on an Incredible Journey Through the San Juan Mountains!   For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this steam train plus spend 2 hours in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. There’s no cell service or Wi-Fi through much of the terrain so you’ll be unplugged from the modern world. Soak in the views, listen as the steam whistle echoes through the canyon, hear the vintage locomotive work to pull the train up the grades. If you long to unwind and enjoy Colorado nature at its finest, this is the trip for you.
DBG Annual Bulb Sale - Sale Begins

It's still summer, but it's time to think about getting your fall-planted bulbs SOON. The Durango Botanic Gardens 11th annual Bulb Sale will once again be conducted online. Over 60 types of bulbs will be available to order. The Bulb Sale preview opens on July 23 on the Botanic Gardens' website: www.durangobotanicgardens.org. You will find pictures and descriptions of all the available bulbs to help you plan your garden. The online store will be open Aug. 6 - 17.    Paid orders will be available for pickup Oct 15, 16, 17, and 23 at a variety of locations and times that will be posted on the website. October is the ideal time to plant your daffodils, tulips, Dutch iris, hyacinth, crocus, and other spring beauties! Bulbs are easy to grow and return year after year.    There is a world-wide shortage of bulbs again this year, so don't miss out! Mark your calendars to go online August 6th to www.durangobotanicgardens.org to order your bulbs. Help maintain the beautiful gardens around the Library! Music will be by Jeff Solon Jazz.    Following dinner will be the premiere of Ghost Story featuring actor Brian Lee Franklin (Godless, Free State of Jones) and directed by esteemed actor/director Tom Wright, who has more than 200 acting credits to his name.
