The 2021 La Plata County Fair is slated to be held August 11-15 at the La Plata County Fair Fairgrounds. The five days of fun will feature entertainment for the whole family including displays, animals, exhibits, the livestock auction, the 4-H Community BBQ, dancing, food and more.

We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. There’s no cell service or Wi-Fi through much of the terrain so you’ll be unplugged from the modern world. Soak in the views, listen as the steam whistle echoes through the canyon, hear the vintage locomotive work to pull the train up the grades. Raptors Wild offers an exciting, educational, and entertaining bird display hosted by a master falconer. Several birds are displayed, giving visitors an up close look at these magnificent creatures. You've never seen anything like it!

Spend a day or 2 at the beautiful Wild Cooperative Permaculture Demonstration & Educational Site in Crawford, CO!    AUGUST 14-15, 2021, 10 AM UNTIL 5 PM - Attend 1 or both days!   We're going deep with mushrooms...mushroom walks, hands on medicine making, making and eating mushroom snacks, detailed profiles on local medicinal and edible wild mushrooms, sustainable foraging, Rocky Mountain poisonous mushrooms.    There are options to camp and be fed wild foods-inspired vegan/gluten-free meals onsite. There is also free camping available nearby on national forest land.    Both days - $250.  $200 for locals from the neighborhood.  1 day - $125. $100 for locals from the neighborhood.   On site meals - $10 donation per meal  On site camping - $10 donation per tent

Join us for the La Plata County 4-H Community BBQ during the Fair. We will be serving BBQ beef, BBQ pork, corn, bread, salad, & ice cream!    All proceeds go to our local 4-H program and allows us to offer educational events for our community.   Tickets are available now at the La Plata County Extension Office and local 4-H members.   Pre-sale tickets are $8.00 per adult and $5.00 for seniors over 65 and children under 7 and under.

Open Nightly Memorial Day Weekend thru late September , The Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers in Durango, Colorado offers family entertainment with a stage show and barbecue or steak supper. After supper, The Bar D Wranglers perform their famous old west music stage show with cowboy songs, comedy, and lively instruments. The Bar D Chuckwagon Suppers is a major attraction in Durango, Colorado and a "must do"activity for family entertainment. The restaurant, stage show, shops, train, and activities are set in an old west cowboy village under the red cliffs North of Durango, Colorado.

Fur Trappers presents Donny Johnson from 5pm to 9pm. Come join us for great food and entertainment!

The cost is $10 per person with or without skate rentals. Public skating will be limited to Disco Night at this time.    Reservations are not required.
