The 2021 La Plata County Fair is slated to be held August 11-15 at the La Plata County Fair Fairgrounds. The five days of fun will feature entertainment for the whole family including displays, animals, exhibits, the livestock auction, the 4-H Community BBQ, dancing, food and more.
Scenic Round Trip Silverton Train

Embark on an Incredible Journey Through the San Juan Mountains!   For a truly unforgettable step back in time, enjoy a leisurely trip to yesteryear riding 3 1/2 hours each way on this steam train plus spend 2 hours in the historic mining town of Silverton to enjoy the sights, shopping, food, and libations that Silverton offers. We’ve been in continuous operation running train excursions on this 45-mile spur of the Denver & Rio Grande rail line since 1882. Much of the scenery remains unchanged since then. There’s no cell service or Wi-Fi through much of the terrain so you’ll be unplugged from the modern world. Soak in the views, listen as the steam whistle echoes through the canyon, hear the vintage locomotive work to pull the train up the grades. If you long to unwind and enjoy Colorado nature at its finest, this is the trip for you.
Veterans Benefit Breakfast - Open to Public

Great opportunity to support your local veterans while enjoying a delicious breakfast! Open to the public, this event is held every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month from 9 AM to 11 AM at the VFW Post 4031. Donations of only $8 for adults, $7 for veterans, and $5 for kids 12 and under. All proceeds help support local veterans!

Rocky Mountain Medicinal & Edible Mushrooms - Workshop

Spend a day or 2 at the beautiful Wild Cooperative Permaculture Demonstration & Educational Site in Crawford, CO!    AUGUST 14-15, 2021, 10 AM UNTIL 5 PM - Attend 1 or both days!   We're going deep with mushrooms...mushroom walks, hands on medicine making, making and eating mushroom snacks, detailed profiles on local medicinal and edible wild mushrooms, sustainable foraging, Rocky Mountain poisonous mushrooms.    There are options to camp and be fed wild foods-inspired vegan/gluten-free meals onsite. There is also free camping available nearby on national forest land.    Both days - $250.  $200 for locals from the neighborhood.  1 day - $125. $100 for locals from the neighborhood.   On site meals - $10 donation per meal  On site camping - $10 donation per tent
Party At The Powerhouse

Debut of new band Drama Club in a live music event benefitting Housing Solutions for the Southwest.   The band will perform live roots, rock and soul music for dancing and live band karaoke. Karaoke space is limited and first-come first-served. Singing from the audience will also be encouraged!   General admission tickets are $25. Kids 12 and under are free.   Food trucks and a cash bar will be on hand.
