Durango Farmers Market

The Durango Farmers Market is a venue for local agriculturalists, ranchers and artisans to meet and share their harvest and talents with the Durango community. At our market you have the opportunity to meet face to face with the producers and learn more about their growing methods. Vendors post their farming practices at their booth and most follow organic growing methods.   Our market also offers hot ready to eat food from local vendors, value added foods such as jams, jellies and sauces and local artisans who make high-quality handcrafted items. All vendors must produce their goods within our five-county radius ensuring fresh produce and locally made goods. We also have live music performances each weekend as well as community information booths for non-profits and groups that promote our market values of local, sustainable and healthy living.
Sword, Staff, Aikido

Experience flowing Aikido with Sensei Steve Self.    9-10am master the sword (bokken) and wooden staff (jo).    10-11am hone advanced Aikido concepts with Sensei Mark Winkworth. Wire Wrap Pendant
9:30am / La Plata County Fairgrounds and Events Center
Two classes being offered! 9:30am - 12:30pm AND 1:30pm - 4:30pm.   In this 3-hour class you will learn to twist, curl and weave copper wire to elegantly wrap and secure a beautiful, polished stone and complete a pendant. Enroll in either the morning or afternoon session. Stones are provided, but you can bring a favorite cabochon, if you prefer. A good beginner stone will have a teardrop shape.
Silver Pendant with Stone
9:30am / Four Corners Gem and Mineral Club
In this 3-hour class you will construct a silver pendant with a stone, including designing, sawing, measuring, soldering, bail making and stone setting techniques. A stone is provided but you can bring a favorite small cabochon, if you prefer.
Keum boo Earrings
9:30am / La Plata County Fairgrounds and Events Center
In this 3 hour class you will work with two precious metals to practice an ancient metalsmith technique that fuses pure gold to fine silver through the application of heat and pressure. We will have a practice run with copper and silver to get the hang of it before you dive into the pricey metals! You will make two pairs of earrings with ear wires.

68th Annual Four Corners Gem and Mineral Show

The Four Corners Gem and Mineral Club will host our 68th Annual Gem and Mineral Show! Over 60 vendors will offer gems, minerals, jewelry, fossils and more! We've built a mobile stage designed to deliver free world-class classical music concerts throughout the region.   Join us on July 9th at 11:00 AM in Shoshone Park in Ignacio to hear a performance by our Strings Ensemble.   What You Should Know:  -Schedule is subject to change. Please check our website and social media for any last minute updates.  -In case of bad weather, individual events will be canceled and not rescheduled.  -No reservations are necessary. Just show up!  -Bring your own chairs or blankets. A limited number of chairs will be available to rent.  -We love dogs, but (sorry!) they are not invited.  -There are no restrooms or concessions. You may bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages. Please clean up after yourselves for everyone's safety and happiness.  -Show runs approximately 45 minutes
Animas Museums Second Saturday Seminar Series

Join local historian Charles DiFerdinando to learn about the July fire that changed Durango's history.    There is no charge for the webinar, but registration is required at animasmuseum.org/events.html. Silver Bracelet with Stone

This 3-hour class you will complete a beautiful silver bracelet with a stone. Skills include sawing, measuring, soldering, mandrel forming, and stone setting techniques. A stone is provided but you can bring a small cabochon, if you prefer.
Painted Agate Slabs

In this 3-hour class you will learn figure or landscape painting using a slab of natural agate or other interesting stone as your canvas. Slabs are provided but you can bring a favorite slab, if you prefer.
Heathers The Musical

Durango Theatreworks at Fort Lewis College closes its inaugural season with the Off-Broadway and West End hit, Heathers The Musical. Based on the 1989 cult classic film by the same title, Heathers The Musical has taken the world by storm with its ferocious rock score and witty book by Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde) and Kevin Murphy (tv's Desperate Housewives). Featuring Durango favorites Siena Widen, Conor Sheehan, Rebecca Thurston, and special guest Madison Britton, Heathers is a theatrical event not to be missed!   Note: Heathers contains adult subject matter, situations, and language.

Old West Cowboy Music Show and Chuckwagon Supper. Durango's favorite family entertainment since 1969. Bar D Wranglers perform in concert after supper with music and songs of old west cowboys, comedy, and lively instrumentals. In this 2.5-hour class you will slab, trim and polish rough stone into cabochons ready to set into jewelry and learn the safe operation of lapidary equipment. Slabs are provided but feel free to bring a slab of your own. Sign up for a Friday, Saturday or Sunday session.

Much Ado About Nothing

Outdoor Shakespeare is back! Durango Theatreworks at Fort Lewis College presents Shakespeare Under the Stars with the endearing Much Ado About Nothing. The production is directed by award-winning director Robert Faires of Austin, TX, and features a talented cast of seven actors who will play all of the central characters. Much Ado will play outside in FLC's beautiful Busby Amphitheatre. Come join us as we continue the tradition.
